My Daddy Loves Me, Even More than Beer...

That is the name of the beer I brewed at my local brew on premises in celebration of the birth of my daughter Karina Rose. She is perfect and the beer is pretty good. I mean really, it's not even close folks. Although I did celebrate her first day on the planet with a Westvleteren 12 that I brought back from Belgium about 5 years ago. It was fabulous. Anyway, back to the homebrew. It is the 1900th beer tasted and rated in my beer database. Candy sugar, caramel, clove, and touch of pepper on the nose. 9% abv. Distinct sweet banana bread taste. Immediate warming on the back of the throat. Light carbonation. Dark fruits. A decent beer, but not very complex. Not bad considering it is a home brew. I only had a 12oz this time...I will re-evaluate when I get to the 22ozers.

I haven't had a bad home brew from you yet. Speaking of which, I hope you saved one for me! I can't think of a better occasion to break out the Westvlerteren 12 than the birth of your first child. Sounds like you've had a very good week. Cheers to Karina Rose!

Beer Review: The Boston Beerman's Daddy loves me even more than beer Abbey Ale 12 homebrew. Presentation: Capped bottle with baby faced label poured into a Chimay goblet. Appearance: copper with reddish hue. Nice 1 finger, white, pillowy head that does not dissipate and sticks to the glass on each sip. Aroma: Fruity Belgian yeast with grapefruit and caramel notes. Taste: Fruity, Belgian yeast followed by a slam of sweet sugar and caramel on the pallet. Moderate carbonation and a light alcohol burn at the back of the throat at the end. Very drinkable with good complexity. I love sweet Belgians and this fits the bill perfectly. If I had 3 cases of these, I wouldn’t drink another beer this summer. Another home run brew by the Beerman.

Thanks Jeff. Glad you liked it. I wish I had more of it to share with you. I have given it all away...I only had one bottle, well and a few glasses while bottling.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! I check you beer website every so often, but it has been awhile (obviously). I took your beer class back in '07 (and I worked at the museum). ps- that home brew sounds really good.

Trevi,

Thanks for the reply. No need to explain who you are, you were certainly one of the most memorable student workers to ever work at the museum! I hope all is well. We miss you. I continue to show that pic of you and the Shakers recording the Two Gentlemen of Verona in front of the Kauffmann painting at the beginning of all my Tufts New Media classes. I hope all is well.

Cheers,
Jim
